    ><> Wheatley and Thame Freecycle group by Mike Peplar
    +-----------------------------+-----------------------------+
The group is open to all who want to "recycle" that special
something rather than throw it away. Whether it's a chair, a
fax machine, piano or an old door, feel free to post it. Or
maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself! Nonprofit
groups are also welcome to participate too!

One main rule: everything posted must be free. This group is
part of The Freecycle Network, a nonprofit organization and a
movement of people interested in keeping good stuff out of
landfills. Check out http://freecycle.org for other cities
    and info on the movement!
    E-mail Wheatley-Thame-Freecycle-owner@yahoogroups.com for
    questions or improvement ideas!

    ><> Prayer for Wheatley by Gordon Ewbank
    +-----------------------------+-----------------------------+
God is stirring up various people in and around Wheatley and
from many different church backgrounds to get together to
pray regularly (probably once a month) for the village.
If God is putting this on your heart too you may like to come
to a meeting at the home of David and Sarah Bendor-Samuel at
25 Littleworth Road (opposite the primary school) on Tuesday
28th February at 7:45pm which will aim to be finished by
    9:30pm.
For further information you can contact David and Sarah on
    Tel 872102, Dawn Dunbar - dedunbar@brookes.ac.uk or
Gordon and Jill Ewbank - gordon@gordonjill.freeserve.co.uk

    ><> Come to Greenbelt 2006! With Kevin Betts
    +-----------------------------+-----------------------------+
Lucy & I will be returning to the Greenbelt Christian Arts
Festival again this summer. The festival is very family
friendly and runs over the August bank holiday from Friday
25th until Monday 28th - but really this should read "until
Tuesday 29th" as most of the evening activities during the
weekend run into the early hours of the next day, so be
prepared for late nights! The festival is only an hour down
the road at the Cheltenham racecourse, and you could come for
just a day if you don't fancy camping over 4 days. The theme
this year is "Redemption Songs" (a Bob Marley classic!), and
confirmed speakers and artists so far are: Rudo Kwaramba,
World Vision's Director of Advocacy; writer, broadcaster and
campaigning academic, Alastair McIntosh; theologians Walter
    Wink and James Alison; reconciliation worker Keiko Holmes;
radical activist Shane Claiborne; and writer Kristen Aune.
Costs are £70 per person for the whole weekend (camping free)
if you book by the end of April, around £25 per person for a
day, and there are concessions and / or family tickets
available. Lucy & I would love to go with a group from
Wheatley, so do let us know if you are thinking of coming
along too. The festival really gives you a wider perspective
on what is happening in the UK and globally, and gives
you lots to bring back to the life of your church!

    ><> Wheatley Swap Day by Mike Pepler
Merry Bells, Saturday 4th March, 10am-1pm. Free Entry!
    +-----------------------------+-----------------------------+
Come and bring all those odds and ends you ought to get rid
of, and see if someone else would like them! You might find
stuff you'd like too! Come and help reduce the amount of
waste going to landfill, and give a good home to your junk,
    and other people's too!

    Rules:
    1. Just turn up and see if there's anything on offer you'd
like to take away, and bring anything you want to get rid
of. Don't worry if you have nothing to bring, or decide
       not to take anything.
    2. Nothing illegal, no electrical items and no pets to be
       brought for swapping!
    3. Please don't bring things which are *really* rubbish, just
stuff that someone might find useful, but you don't want
       any more.

    ><> DRAMATIC READING OF THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST MARK
        Holy Trinity Church, Headington Quarry
The Oldest and most dramatic of the Gospels, St Mark as
it has never been heard before.
Translator Nicholas King (Tutor, New Testament Studies,
Campion Hall) has received widespread critic acclaim for
his interpretation. The idea behind this modest
production is that it will be a stepping stone to a much
bigger project in 2007. We hope to gauge the level of
interest in theatre of this type, raise support, start
fund-raising for a show that could grow to attract
        10-20,000 people every two years.
If York, Coventry and Chester can do it, why not 'The
        Oxford Passion Plays'?
The cast includes Creation actors Tom Peters ('As You
Like It' 2005) and Elaine Symons (Lyra, Philip Pullman's
'His Dark Materials' the National Theatre).
