+-----------------------------+-----------------------------+
Live@6 is a new monthly Youth Worship Service at St Mary's,
Wheatley on the second Sunday of each month, for the villages
in the Anglican Wheatley Team and beyond. The first service
starts on October 8th from 6pm to 8pm. It will comprise of
worship, thought provoking activities, dynamic teaching, food
and hanging around. It's run by local Christians and brings
young people together to equip and empower them to live lives
that are passionate about Jesus and relevant to the world in
which they live. If you are between 10 and 15, please come
and check us out! We are planning plenty of free Krispy Kreme
donuts for the first service, and a rock band in future!

Xpedition Force, Seaside Rock, Go for Gold ~ Summer Camps in
Wheatley are fast becoming known as ‘the week to be at’!
Over 120 kids and leaders enjoyed another fabulous week in
August. The Primary School was hardly recognisable after the
team transformed the entrance into the CENTRAL BASE CAMP for
our Xpedition into the Mountains! We ‘Xperienced’ MANY
activities, games, challenges, ration foods and believe it or
not …a HUGE downpour of SNOW!!! Is there no end to the fun
and ‘Xcitement’ that can be packed in to our Summer Camps? We
also ‘Xplored’ what it looks like to journey with Jesus as
our constant companion and saviour, sang some great songs and
yes …the ‘almost famous’ drama was back again to entertain us
with great silliness but also some thought provoking
‘stuff’ !! Our Friday evening BBQ and fun night was fantastic
as many of the parents joined us to finish off the week.
Thanks to all our wonderful children who shared the week with
us. And for those of you who are incredibly organised …2007’s
camp is on the same week ~ just before the long weekend: 20th
– 24th August 2007.
In the meantime ~ hope to see many of you at the Fusion
Funday Festival on the 21st October!
Cheers - Kath & Dan

><> Prayer Meetings by Dawn Dunbar
+-----------------------------+-----------------------------+
You may know of the monthly prayer meeting for Wheatley and
the surrounding area that takes place at the home of David
and Sarah Bendor-Samuel and, indeed, may have been to one of
the meetings. Christians living within the village and from
neighbouring areas come together on the 4th Tuesday each
month to pray and seek God's will. However, numbers of those
attending dropped dramatically after the first few meetings
and it was wondered if there was any particular reason for
this? Organisers would appreciate hearing your thoughts and
suggestions as to how this valuable meeting and testimony to
unity should progress; it would be particularly useful to
know if the day and time and venue are suitable for all who
would like to join together to pray.
Please contact dedunbar@brookes.ac.uk with your responses.

><> Prayer and Challenge by Ian Marron
+-----------------------------+-----------------------------+
Dear Friends
You may well be aware that those of us who worship as The
Granary Church have been spending recent months seeking God's
will and direction and, as part of our waiting on God, we
will be having days of prayer from the 24th - 30th September.
We are particularly keen, as usual, that we do not become
inward looking or exclusive and so would like to:
1) invite any other Christians to join with us at any time
you are available during that week (if you let me know of
your interest, I will let you have specific details nearer
the time); and
2) ask you for details of other regular or special prayer
meetings taking place that week that we could come and
share in. Even if you think we should already know the
details, please e-mail me again with times, days and
places. The only meetings I have confirmed at this time
are the prayer meeting at The Merry Bells on Saturday
morning and the meeting at the Bendor-Samuel's on Tuesday
25th September.
Also, I would like to bring a fresh challenge to you: It is
the intention and privilege of The Granary to 'preach the
good news', and we want to do that in unity with as many
others who know they are called to do that as possible. It is
this which is precious to us and we will take every
opportunity available to work with others. The 'good news',
of course, is that mankind is able to have a restored
relationship with God - not that God can have a relationship
with us. It is never about us, or our churches... and to that
end, I promise that the people and resources of The Granary
are available to all those who are intent on serving God. We
are, I say again, eager to be obedient to Father and work
with you.
We do not necessarily want to see people come to The Granary
Church - Jesus did not commission us to bring people to
church - we want to see people in a relationship with God,
wherever that may be. Everything we do from The Granary base
comes with an open invitation to every other Christian - if
you believe that what you see us doing has the seal of God
upon it, come and take part, or support us in prayer. We
can't do it on our own - that would be unscriptural anyway,
as Paul reminds us, the body is made up of many parts. Let's
be clear, the body is those who are being knit together. Our
advertising carries The Granary name because it has to do by
law, but we don't do anything for selfish intentions.
Whatever we do, we do in the name of the Lord for the whole
village on behalf of all the churches.
Across the UK, the church is engaged in rebuilding the 'city
walls'; our work parties have a trowel in one hand and a
sword in the other - we need to depend on those building next
to us. The way the enemy is rampaging around, it is no longer
practical or logical to be pastoring/guarding our own flock
or part of the wall. All those who hear God's heart on this
(whether employed as a pastor/minister or not) need to become
pastors for whole area (even, the county), it is not enough
to look to servicing our own bit of wall, lest some other
part be overwhelmed.
The Granary is dedicating itself to standing in the gap for
the entire community - will you pledge to stand with us? I am
asking members of The Granary to make contact with the other
churches and Christians in the area so we can become better
informed, particularly in the realm of prayer and ministry
needs. If you would like to help move this process along, or
have some other ideas for strengthening the joint witness and
testimony, please get in touch. The Granary doesn't have a
newsletter as such, but if you would like us to keep you
informed about the things we are doing or praying about, just
let us know.
Don't forget the request for details of other prayer
meetings! Let's do the best we can for God and reflect His
Glory - together.
Pastor Ian Marron, The Granary Church, Wheatley
